Focus on Lead & AluZinc

As our company is called BS Stainless, it would be fair to assume that our product range consists entirely of stainless steel materials and components. That assumption is, however, not correct at all! Though stainless steel is admittedly our primary focus, we do supply an extensive range of other metals to suit all different kinds of applications.

For this edition of our blog we're going to be showcasing three other types of metal that can be purchased from BS Stainless. As with all of our stainless steel products, these metals are absolutely guaranteed to be of superlative quality and are made available to our customers at the most competitive price point.

Lead Sheet
Lead gets a pretty bad press but is it really justified? It's true that the element can be toxic but only in specific circumstances, such as when it is in the form of dust or vapour. Lead sheet in fact does not pose a significant hazard to health and the BRE Green Guide gives the material an A or even A+ rating. Like stainless steel, lead is 100% recyclable, making it a highly sustainable material.

Easy to form, lead sheet is used for many different applications. It is especially useful for jacketing and acoustic cladding purposes, often beneath the outer shell of metal. Lead sheet from BS Stainless comes with a 50-year peace of mind guarantee and conforms to BS EN 12588.

AluZinc
As the name suggests, AluZinc is an alloy containing aluminium (55%) and zinc (43.4%); the remaining 1.6% is silicon. A popular material in the roofing and cladding sectors as well as the insulation and ventilation industries, AluZinc provides an excellent substrate for organic coatings. The material allows for paint to be directly applied, negating the need for preliminary surface treatments and thus saving both labour time and costs.

Imprinted with a thin organic coating that helps to prevent fingerprints and also protects the material during storage and transportation, AluZinc is supplied by BS Stainless in coils or flat sheets. We can also supply AluZinc with an acoustic or moisture barrier (SoundMet® and DryMet® respectively).

If you would like to learn more about these useful materials, please visit the product pages on the BS Stainless website. Any questions you have can be expertly and authoritatively answered by our expert technical team so do not hesitate to give us a call!
