Stainless Steel Surcharges Higher
Stainless steel surcharges in Europe have increased again, this will be the seventh month in a row that surcharges have increased in value. The European stainless steel surcharges will increase from the 1st of July 2014. Nickel prices have settled down slightly over the last few weeks with price levels hovering around the $19,000 per tonne level this has resulted in small increases in surcharges, coupled with higher Molybdenum prices to push up 316 / 1.4404 prices further.
With summer shutdowns approaching, price levels are expected to remain high with stock levels falling further due to continued demand for stainless steel.
