TedMet: The Ultimate Insulation Jacketing Solution
DuPont™ was founded more than 200 years ago and has grown to become one of the world's biggest and most highly-renowned chemical companies, responsible for the creation of numerous materials and coating including Neoprene®, Lycra® and Kevlar®. Another of the company's leading coatings is Tedlar®, which is used in the creation of TedMet® insulation jacketing from BS Stainless.
Invented by DuPont™ over 50 years ago, Tedlar® is today used all over the world in numerous different industries for a wide and diverse array of applications. The material is a laminated film layer of polyvinyl fluoride (PVF) and is resistance to damage and attack from many different sources, including water, abrasion, UV radiation, chemicals, solvents and fire.
Tedlar® is noted for its ability to far outperform standard polyester paint and PVDF systems and has many different applications from architectural cladding to coating the overhead lockers of commercial aircraft. BS Stainless have developed a unique, highly-innovative process that allows us to factory-apply Tedlar® to a variety of metals including stainless steel, carbon steel, galvanised steel and aluminium.
All of our TedMet® metal jacketing meets the ASTM standards for aluminum jacketing ASTM C1729 and for stainless steel jacketing ASTM C1767. BS Stainless is the only company in the UK with the technology to carry out the factory-application process on our dedicated, state-of-the-art coil-coating line.
The perfect solution for metal jacketing and cladding over insulation applications, TedMet® is especially useful to the oil & gas industries. Its ability to be easily cleaned with strong chemicals like bleach without damaging it also makes it an ideal material for use in places like laboratories, clean rooms, healthcare facilities and other areas in which hygiene is of prime importance. In fact, TedMet® can be beneficial in any area where a durable and strong metal surface is required.
Using our purpose-built machinery, BS Stainless can apply Tedlar® to either one of both sides of the metal surface. In applications where only one side is coated, the other side can be applied with our DryMet® moisture barrier or SoundMet® acoustic jacketing. We are also able to offer a selection of paint systems to produce TedMet® in a full range of colour options.
Our state-of-the-art machinery allows us to coat one or both sides of a metal with Tedlar®. Where just one side is coated, we provide a range of options for the reverse side of the metal including our SoundMet® acoustic jacketing or DryMet® moisture barrier. TedMet® can also be produced in a range of attractive colours.
