The BS Stainless Knowledge Transfer Partnership - Introducing Kashif Mohammad

In October 2012, representatives from BS Stainless attended the Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) launch meeting to begin a two-year project. We are proud to announce that we are now working with Kashif Mohammad as a result of the scheme.

The KTP scheme evolved from the Teaching Companies Scheme (TCS) which was established in 1975. It has been known as the KTP scheme since 2003 and is now managed by the Technology Strategy Board. KTPs create relationships between established companies and academic associations. Technology, skills, knowledge and information are provided by the company to the associates, who are composed of post-grad researchers, university graduates and other individuals with an NVQ of at least level 4. The associate works within the company on important projects, allowing them to use their academic skills in practical settings and providing them with real-life experience and the opportunity to apply their knowledge. Each project lasts up to 36 months and is funded by 15 different organisations including the partner company while the academic institution provides overall supervision. Around 800 KTPs are currently in existence around the UK, bringing many benefits to the associate, their academic institution and the company itself.

Kashif Mohammad is from Delhi in India, where he studied Mechanical Engineering at Uttar Pradesh Technical University (UPTU). After completing an MSc in Advanced Mechanical engineering at Leicester University, he went on to carry out further academic research in the field of Computational Fluid Dynamics. Since completing these studies, Kashif has been employed in various roles within manufacturing and the oil and gas industries both in the UK and India. Kashif now lives close to the BS Stainless premises in Bamber Bridge, from where he is involved in the development and improvement of metal jacketing and fixing systems for the oil and gas industry. He receives constant support from the entire BS Stainless team as well as Dr Abhishek Asthana and associates from Sheffield Hallam University.

BS Stainless are proud to be involved with the KTP scheme and look forward to our continued association with Kashif Mohammad.
