The Mark of Quality

The CE mark is a widely recognised symbol of product quality. BS Stainless, as suppliers of a wide range of stainless steel products, are proud to be CE approved under the CPR 305/2011 Construction Products Regulation, demonstrating our total compliance with EU legislation regarding health, safety and environmental protection along with energy efficiency.

The mandatory CE mark affixed to certain products bought and sold in the EEA (European Economic Area) has been established since 1985 and shows that the manufacturer is declaring, at their sole responsibility, conformity with all of the legal requirements to achieve a CE marking approval. In the field of construction products, CE marking became mandatory on 1st July 2013 with the aim of ensuring free movement of CPR compliant construction products in the EEA and ensuring the availability of consistent and reliable information that establishes superlative product performance.

Many of the companies who purchase products from BS Stainless are themselves seeking to gain CE approval. As market leaders in the sector, BS Stainless sought our own CE approval status in order to comply with all new regulations and to demonstrate the consistent high quality of our product range, as well as helping our customers work toward their own CE approval.

The process began with representatives from BS Stainless attending a number of seminars arranged by the BSSA (British Stainless Steel Association), followed by in-depth discussions with CPR advisors which helped us to understand our involvement with the CE marking system. Notified body Lloyd Register Quality Assurance were appointed to conduct full audits and technical reviews of our processes and products over a six-month period, after which BS Stainless were fully CE-approved for all of our stainless steel coil, sheet, plate, strip, blanks and wire.

With this decision, BS Stainless have become the first independent stainless steel stockholders in the UK to achieve CE approval, allowing us to strengthen the confidence and credibility of our customers when using our products. The CE mark justifies the main objective of CPR by allowing the build-up of trust from end users on all CE-marked products, of which even the raw materials show conformity.
